The HASHIRA 柱 Pendant

Crafted from folded steel, our HASHIRA pendant is a ~2.25 x 0.25 x 0.125 inch metal bar that pays homage to the traditional kakubashira 角柱 pillars prevalent in ancient Japanese architecture.

With a simple yet timeless design that can be engraved with kanji of your choice, the HASHIRA complements any sort of outfit and can be worn for any occasion.

Necklace Attachment (Important)

Please note that a bail attachment will need to be acquired separately to utilize the PU leather necklace that we offer.

The hole for a chain or bail is about 2mm across and located approximately 5mm from the top of the necklace.

Custom Engraving

Custom engraving is also available for those who wish to personalize their pendants to their tastes. Simply select the "custom engraving" option, and send us an image of your design and order number to info@hatanosen.com

Safety

As the smith does not mix chromium into the metal, your HASHIRA pendant should be kept away from water. We have applied a layer of lacquer to give the pendant a measure of water resistance, but it is always better to be safe than sorry! As this layer will eventually wear off over the course of normal wear, it is highly recommended to replace it with a jewelry sealant (or an alternative) in a month or so to protect the finishing of the pendant and maintain its water resistance.

Stainless Option

Due to popular demand, we now offer a stainless clad variant of our HASHIRA pendant! The metals used in the forging of this piece are of a lower carbon content with a limited chromium mix in order to provide greatly increased resistance to water based corrosion. Please note that this metal is not fully stainless, and thus should not be left exposed to water for extended periods of time.

As of the 3rd of May 2025, our smith has homogenized our steel variants into a single steel type that will be used across all of our pendants. As such, all pendants will now have the similar levels of quality and resistance as the variant previously titled as "Stainless Clad Steel" at a reduced price. Ordered this after seeing a advert on instagram, and the only thing I regret is not getting the custom engraving! It does take a little while to ship out, so make your choices wisely.

Haven't wore anything. around my neck for a decade... until now

I came to the site after seeing a social media advertisement, out of curiosity i was browsing through the Hatano Sen accessories. Even after leaving the site, my mind kept thinking about getting the Hashira pendant and how i would customize it to make it more unique to me. After making my decision it took about - i think - a month and a half to get the piece, and i'm wearing it ever since. It has a good weight to it, feels natural and very durable, love the damascus pattern especially the side i have it facing outwards. I highly recommend it, very satisfied how it came out.
